First, the principle is different

Air source heat pump is driven by a motor, using the energy in the air as a low-temperature heat source, through the condenser or evaporator for heat exchange, and then through the circulation system, in the building to extract or release heat to meet the user's heating or cooling needs.

Water source heat pumps use electrical power to extract heat/cold sources from groundwater or soil to heat or cool buildings.


Second, their advantages

Air source heat pump is heat pump heating, water and electricity separation, will not affect the environment, green environmental protection, and do not worry about the leakage of refrigerant to cause environmental pollution; The use of more flexible, without too many restrictions, compared with electric heating can save about 55% of the monthly electricity.

The advantage of water source heat pump is that the groundwater temperature is relatively stable throughout the year, the fluctuation is small, the COP value is as high as 5 or more, and the water source heat pump saves about 30%-40% of electricity than the central air conditioning while producing the same cooling or heating effect. The main engine of the water source heat pump does not exchange heat with the air, and only needs to be placed in a well-ventilated place in the building.


Three, their shortcomings

The energy of the air source heat pump comes from the heat energy in the air, so in the -10℃ or lower temperature environment, the heat energy in the air is reduced, the heat energy can be converted will be reduced, and the working efficiency will become worse, which will affect the overall operation of the unit.

Water source heat pump well buried pipe is relatively restricted by the site, there must be enough area for well drilling and buried pipe, but also need to have sufficient local groundwater to meet the water output required for unit operation.
